Sex scandals in Chile and New Zealand: Does Party chief To Lam have plan to defame his political opponents?

The incident in which two Vietnamese security officers, part of the preparation team for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit in New Zealand in March, sexually assaulted two female New Zealand citizens in a restaurant has heated up public opinion domestically and internationally.

It is known that the Government newspaper reported that PM Chinh’s trip to New Zealand on March 9-11 was aimed at “promoting bilateral cooperation, including key and traditional areas of cooperation such as trade and investment…”

It is worth noting that the above incident occurred in early March 2024, and New Zealand authorities sent a written notice to the Vietnamese side requesting support in handling the case.

This incident occurred before the incident in which State President Luong Cuong’s bodyguard Lai Dac Tuan sexually harassed a Chilean woman. Why did the “sexual abuse” incident in New Zealand happen 9 months ago, and its severity is far greater than that in Chile, but only surfaced now?

Notably, the incident in Chile was related to the visit of State President Cuong, while the incident in New Zealand was related to PM Chinh.

It is worth mentioning that the perpetrators of both incidents, whether intentionally or unintentionally, are the same culprits, namely security personnel in the Ministry of Public Security.

More seriously, the incidents have caused scandals to the honor of the country. Moreover, this is an extremely sensitive time, because in just about a year, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam will take place.

According to observers, PM Chinh and State President Cuong are political opponents of General Secretary Lam, and all the three are potential candidates for the position of General Secretary for the next term.

Public opinion has raised questions of doubt, is there a plan by the Ministry of Public Security with the aim of discrediting PM Chinh and State President Cuong? Is this plan directed by a high-ranking leader with special influence on the Ministry of Public Security? Why could a national humiliation happen twice to the “Four Pillars” within a year?

According to analysts, the sexual harassment of Vietnamese security officials in Chile and New Zealand is not just an impulsive act of individuals, due to their inability to control their “lust.” It is highly likely that it is a calculation and arrangement in a very carefully prepared plan.

Why did the group of 8 officials from the Ministry of Public Security, including 2 women, turn a blind eye, allowing 2 male colleagues to seriously sexually assault 2 female waitresses in a Saigon restaurant in New Zealand, without stopping them?

Why did the 2 suspects, who were security officers on duty, quickly leave New Zealand before the host country’s police arrived? Meanwhile, New Zealand does not have an extradition treaty with Vietnam, so the New Zealand police had no choice but to give up.

Sexual harassment is a very bad thing, affecting the national honor, and at the same time, it is a very serious incident, not allowed to happen in foreign relations. Why did the Ministry of Public Security let it happen twice in one year, in 2 countries that have influence over the Vietnamese state?

On social networks, many people have noticed that the two incidents mentioned above have many signs related to Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and seriously affect the reputation, honor, and image of the country. They suspect that party chief Lam is the person behind the plan to defame the image of the competitors for the General Secretary position at the 14th National Congress, which will take place in early 2026.

As the General Secretary – the head of the Vietnamese government, Lam needs to answer to the public and the people.
